VUUR is a Dutch progressive metal band founded in 2016 by singer and lyricist Anneke van Giersbergen alongside musicians she previously collaborated with in The Gentle Storm and her solo band. Created to showcase van Giersbergen’s heavier musical style, VUUR released their debut album In This Moment We Are Free Cities in October 2017. The band’s music blends powerful metal riffs with atmospheric and melodic elements, capturing themes of fire, passion and drive.
