Wooden beads

Wooden beads are beads made of wood with a hole for threading. They are good for bracelets, necklaces, keyrings, macramé and first crafts with children. What size wooden beads should you choose?

The size of a bead decides what you can make with it and which cord you can pull through it. The 6 mm beads (118 per pack, 2 mm hole) and 10 mm beads (47 pieces) suit delicate bracelets and necklaces on elastic or thin thread. The 15 mm beads (14 pieces, 3.5 mm hole) and 20 mm beads (10 pieces, 4 mm hole) can also go on a thicker cord or a strap. Large 30 mm beads (10 pieces, 6.5 mm hole) and 40 mm beads (6 pieces, 8 mm hole) work well for macramé and keyrings.

Natural or coloured wooden beads?

Knorr Prandell natural beads are made of undyed wood with a visible grain. You can leave them as they are or paint them with wood paints to match your own idea. Each Wooden Bead Mix pack contains 20 beads of different shapes and sizes in a blue, green, pink, natural brown, black-and-white or yellow-and-red combination. For a bigger project, there is also a 150 g mix.

Which wooden beads are suitable for children?

Sycomore kits are designed for children from 3 or 4 years of age, depending on the kit. The colourful beads come in a tube of 300 pieces or in a box with a unicorn (170 or 338 pieces), mermaid (400 pieces) or rainbow theme (180 or 400 pieces).
