XLR Cable 10m

You need a 10 m XLR cable wherever the mixer isn't next to the stage but out in the room: a community hall, a church, a sports hall or a restaurant hosting a wedding. It takes the mic signal from the stage to the desk, or from the desk to active speakers on stands either side of the stage. Thanks to the balanced XLR wiring, the signal covers even this distance without hum. Ten-metre male-to-female XLR cables are made by Cordial, Klotz, Bespeco, Behringer, Revoltage and PROEL, and a handful of models have a jack on the other end.

How many metres of XLR cable do you need from stage to mixing desk?

Measure the route the cable will actually take – along the wall, over the door threshold and around the tables – not the distance as the crow flies. Ten metres covers a typical run from the stage to the mixer in a smaller hall, with slack to spare at the mic stand. If the desk is further away or several mics are coming off the stage at once, a single multicore with a stage box is tidier than a bundle of separate cables. The shorter run from a stand to the mixer in a rehearsal room is a job for 5 m XLR cables, and a mic on a desk is covered by 2 m XLR cables.

How do you coil a long XLR cable so it doesn't twist?

Use the over-under method: coil one loop normally, then turn your hand the other way for the next one. The conductors inside don't get twisted, and the next time you unroll it the cable lies straight on the floor. Secure the coil with a hook-and-loop strap and don't leave the connectors lying where people walk. Every length and connector type can be found under XLR Cables.
