Yazoo was an English synth-pop duo from Basildon, Essex, formed in 1981 by Vince Clarke, after his departure from Depeche Mode, and vocalist Alison Moyet. They released two influential albums, Upstairs at Eric's and You and Me Both, and became known for shaping the sound of early synth-pop and influencing the house music scene of the 1980s. Yazoo parted ways in 1983 but reunited for a tour in 2008.
