The BP28L is the long-body variant of the BP28 hypercardioid shotgun condenser microphone, extending the interference tube section for increased directional selectivity in mid and high frequencies. The longer body makes the BP28L particularly effective for outdoor location recording and broadcast news gathering where the maximum possible reach from the microphone to the subject is needed to maintain separation from ambient noise.

Extended Interference Tube

The longer tube of the BP28L increases the effective angle of rejection for mid and high frequencies, providing a tighter polar pattern than the short BP28 in the frequency range most critical for speech intelligibility. This narrower pattern allows boom operators to work at greater distances from the subject while maintaining an adequate signal-to-noise ratio.

Broadcast Field Performance

The BP28L operates on 48V phantom power and delivers the low self-noise and high sensitivity demanded by broadcast standards. Its robust metal housing withstands outdoor conditions, and the standard shock mount thread accepts field-grade zeppelin and pistol grip suspensions for handheld and boom-mounted use.
