Clarinet Stands

Clarinet stands hold your instrument safely upright when you put it down during a rehearsal, concert or practice session. On this page, you’ll find stands for Bb, A, Eb and C clarinets, as well as separate bass clarinet stands from König & Meyer, Hercules, Revoltage, Stagg, Soundking and BG France. Most are small folding stands with a cone that fits inside the bell when you place the clarinet on it. You’ll also find stands for clarinet and flute, stands for several instruments and pegs that screw into a base. This keeps your clarinet off a chair, where it could easily roll off or get scratched.

Which clarinet stands should you choose?

  • Folding stand with a cone – fold the legs and put the stand inside the clarinet’s bell so you can carry it in the instrument case. König & Meyer 15222 and 15228 and Hercules TravLite DS440B work this way. König & Meyer 15229 is designed for the smaller Eb or C clarinet.
  • Clarinet and flute stand – a tripod with a peg on which you can place a clarinet or transverse flute, such as Hercules DS640BB with a velvet-covered telescopic peg or Stagg WIS-A45 with folding metal legs.
  • Stand for several instruments – for when you switch instruments during a concert. Hercules DS543BB holds two clarinets or flutes and a piccolo at the same time, while Hercules DS538B holds two saxophones, a soprano saxophone and two pegs for clarinet or flute.
  • Clarinet peg – it cannot stand on its own; you screw it into a base or holder with an M5 thread: König & Meyer 15224 is for A and Bb clarinets, and 17741 for Eb and C clarinets. Hercules DS602B is a velvet-covered peg for an instrument stand.
  • Bass clarinet stand – a taller stand for a long instrument. You can adjust König & Meyer 15060 to a height of 700 to 1 200 mm, while Hercules DS561B supports both bass clarinet and bassoon with the spike extended or retracted.

What should you check when buying a clarinet stand?

First, check which clarinet pitch the stand is designed for. The smaller Eb or C clarinet has its own stand and peg models, and a bass clarinet needs a taller stand. If you also play the flute or saxophone, a stand with pegs for several instruments will save you space.

For travelling, a folding stand is a useful choice: once folded, it fits inside the bell and travels in the case with your clarinet. Velvet or soft pads protect the instrument’s surface, and non-slip features, such as those on BG France A40, prevent the stand from sliding across the floor. You can also find clarinet cases for your instrument. For saxophone stands, visit the saxophone stands page, and for stands for other instruments, browse the wind instrument stands category.
